Pixi Glow Tonic

I was so stoked when I heard that Shoppers Drug Mart was going to start carrying the Pixi brand, especially knowing that I could finally get my grubby little hands on the Glow Tonic.

I’ve been wanting to try this out after watching most of my favourite UK beauty YouTubers rave on and rave on about this toner/exfoliator.  I never skip out on toner in my skincare routine, so what better chance to try out something new and so adored by other skincare junkies.

According to the Pixi website, this is what it claims to do and what it’s all about:

• Exfoliates and purifies the skin with Glycolic Acid
• Ginseng improves circulation and energizes
• Aloe vera soothes and hydrates
• Refines the appearance of pores
• Gently accelerates cell renewal to reveal a brighter, glowing complexion
• Balances, heals and soothes for radient, healthier looking skin
• Alcohol free
• Suitable for all skin types
• Not tested on animals

One of the main reasons I was really interested to try this was that it has glycolic acid – 5 per cent strength. Since I’ve incorporated glycolic acid into my skincare routine for the last 2-3 years, I’ve noticed a huge difference in the texture and condition of my skin – smoother, clearer, and healthier looking.

I’ve been using the Nip + Fab Glycolic Pads for quite a few years now and I love what it does for my skin, so I figured the Glow Tonic would do the same. With regards to this, I would say yes, this has kept my skin looking and feeling more clear and refreshed after cleansing (this little bottle lasted me about a month). But if I were to choose between the GT and N+F, I’d stick with the N+F.  The GT actually stung my face a little bit and I’m pretty certain it’s because of the witch hazel in the ingredients. I never feel that ‘burning’ sensation with the N+F pads.  As you can see from the photo, I finished up the bottle – I tolerated the stinging just not be wasteful!

Another reason I would stick with the N+F over the GT is the price point. I bought the small version (50 ml?) for $20 CDN to try; I believe the full size 25 0ml is $38 CDN.  I can purchase the N+F pads (60 pads) sometimes for less than $12 CDN a the drugstore, which will last me anywhere from 1 to 2 months.

Although the Glow Tonic is well-loved by other skincare junkies, I’ll stick with my Nip + Fab pads since I’ve never felt any irritation or discomfort with those.  Would I repurchase?  Nope!

Have you tried the Pixi Glow Tonic?  Like or dislike?
