Maison Margiela ‘Replica’: Lazy Sunday Morning (Fragrance)

I’m very picky when it comes to fragrances and when I find one that makes me want to sniff myself all day long, I know it’s a winner.  Having fell in love with the ‘Beach Walk’ fragrance from Maison Margiela ‘Replica’, I ventured to try another on of their scents. I sniffed my way through about 6 of the MMReplica range and Lazy Sunday Morning was the one that I fell in love with straight away.

On the Sephora website:

This floral fragrance combines notes of lily of the valley, patchouli, iris, and white musk to evoke a familiar but forgotten moment—a sun-drenched morning of relaxation.

Close your eyes and let the fragrance transport you to the lazy memory of soft, sunlit warmth. You roll over to feel the delicate summer softness of cotton sheets and silky smooth skin. Breathe in the reassuring scent of fresh laundry from the line and feel completely at peace.

The silhouette of each ‘REPLICA’ bottle is inspired by classic apothecary jars, allowing the collection to be instantly identifiable. Each bottle carries a 100 percent cotton label, which is printed using black ink text and resembles the tags used on the clothing and accessories for the ‘REPLICA’ couture collection. The unique pumps are wrapped with a rope to symbolize the authentic reproduction of the original ‘REPLICA’ couture line.

Notes:
Aldehydes, Pear, Lily of the Valley, Iris, Rose Absolue, Orange Flower, White Musk, Indian Patchouli Oil, Ambrette Seeds Absolute.

Style:
Warm. Clean. Peaceful.

Pretty dramatic description huh?  But as cheesy as “…roll over to feel the delicate summer softness of cotton sheets…” might sound, I swear to you, every time I apply this to my skin, this is exactly what I sense!

I’m not a fan of overly floral perfumes – two of my favourite and most worn scents are Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black and Stella by Stella McCartney. They both have a deep, spiciness to them while managing to still smell really fresh somehow. I also am a big fan of very clean scents like the brand Clean’s fragrance called ‘Skin’ – a lighter fragrance for work or for days when I don’t want to wear something as obvious and noticable like E&J Nirvana Black or Stella.

As you can see from the notes of LSM, the first few are floral and then it moves into headier scents, like patchouli (oooo I love patchouli!).  This is why I love this – it’s a good balance of both.  You know how some perfumes smell different in the bottle once you put it on your skin, or one perfume can smell totally different on someone else, depending on body chemistry? Well, if you take a whiff of LSM, they way it smells is exactly the way it smells on me – and I love it!  Lasting power is quite long  – by the end of an average work day, I can still get a whiff of this from my wrist.

I do not wear this only on Sundays – almost everyday!

Can I also add that the Replica branding is right up my alley?  Beaute.

I purchased the rollerball from Sephora for $30 Cdn (and I’m quickly running out!).  No doubt, the $135 full size 100ml eau de toilette of this baby is going onto my Christmas/Birthday wish list!

Have you tried this fragrance?  Like or dislike?  Have you tried any of the Maison Margiela Replica fragrances?  What’s your favourite?

Sephora Spring 2016 Sale – What I got (and mini-reviews)!

So, when I received my 15% off discount card in the mail and an email from Sephora reminding me of this spring special, I hopped onto the website immediately to start filling my basket and ticking off more “Loves”, in preparation for purchase!  I was very very tempted to spend an embarrassing amount of money on things that I’ve lusted after for a long time, but I tried my best to pick things that I only really really wanted/needed.  So here’s what I got!

(And if I’ve done a full review on a product, I’ll link the name and you can read more about it!)

bareMinerals bareSkin Perfecting Veil in Tan/Dark:  This is a replacement of the same compact I completely hit pan on!  I love this setting powder – perfect colour, doesn’t look cakey and leaves such a natural finish on my skin. Love!

Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion:  This is also a replacement – I think this might be my third or fourth bottle of this toner.  This is a great, alcohol-free lotion that makes my skin feeling refreshed and clean. Love!

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in Number 4:  This is a re-purchase – for my sister!  I’m still working on my little pot but she needed another one.  This is an awesome peach-toned corrector for dark undereye circles. The LM line of concealer/correctors have an amazing shade selection and the formula of this is creamy and perfect.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Rollerball:  This is a personal love of mine, but this purchase is actually for my Ma for upcoming Mother’s Day – SHHH!  Since the E&J Nirvana scents have come out, I’ve been completely in love with the both of them – Nirvana Black is my personal fave but White is something I wear quite often as well, especially during the warmer months.  Anyway, me and my Ma were in Sephora one day and she sampled this on her wrist and said that she really liked it. So, naturally, I bought it for her 🙂

Clinique Take the Day Off Micellar Cleansing Towelettes:  I noticed these new wipes by Clinique and I decided to try ’em out because 1.) I love Clinique products; and 2.) I love wipes!  I’ve used these a couple times and I have to say – they’re just OK.  They definitely don’t remove waterproof mascara – a bit of rough rubbing will do it but I don’t recommend it. It’s great for pre-removing makeup before actually cleansing the face. And I always feel I have to rinse/cleanse after using this because it leaves a bit of an oily film behind. Not the greatest wipes I’ve tried, but does a basic job nonetheless. And for 50 towelettes in a really great re-sealable package for $17, not a bad price.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Stromboli:  This is a new purchase. I hesitated for sooooo long on this because of the price – $58 Cdn for a foundation???  I’ve never spent that much on a foundation. BUT, with the discount and all the great reviews I’ve read/heard/watched about this foundation, I thought now’s the best time to try it out!  I will definitely join the ranks of my fellow beauty junkies and will do a full review on this as soon as I give it a go! Stay tuned 🙂

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Pepper:  This is a new purchase and one I’ve been wanting to make for a loooong time!  My first Bite Beauty lipstick purchase and in the shade Pepper – a mauve colour. And I finally have my grubby little hands on it, yahoo!

And as an added bonus buying online, I was able to snag a few samples and one point perk (by the time I made my purchases online, they had a very limited selection of 100-point perks and no more 250 or 500 perks! Gah!)

Samples:

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer

Juliette Has A Gun Not a Perfume eau de parfum

REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial

Maison Martin Marigiela ‘REPLICA’ Beach Walk

The Estee Edit by Estee Lauder Dissolve the Drama 2-in-1 Makeup Remover

Ralph Lauren Midnight Romance

Point Perk:

Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Total V Contouring Serum

October Birchbox 2015 (Canada)

How time flies!  Here’s what I got in my October Birchbox:

October Birchbox 2015 (Canada)

October Birchbox 2015 (Canada)

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris:  This is a fruity, light perfume. Not really my preference, but a good option for spring/summer.

Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream:  This is a pretty basic body cream.  I appreciate that it sinks quickly into the skin and does not feel greasy.  It smells of lemons mostly, which is refreshing, but I find at times I feel like I smell like dish-washing soap. Not necessarily a bad thing!  But I probably won’t be purchasing the full-size of this.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara:  Wow. I’m really picky with mascaras and this has shot up to one of my top faves!  I’ve heard of this brand before but really paid no attention. This mascara lengthens, volumizes, separates each lash and hold the curl. I like the cute tube it comes in too — different from all typical mascara packaging!  I am definitely adding this to my list of next purchases (or gift wish list!)

Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Cleanser:  I haven’t tried this facial wash yet, but it looks very unique. This cleanser is an African black soap with a gel-like consistency. It has rose hip oil and is 100% natural.  This is claims to be anti-blemish and is supposed to keep your skin feeling fresh and looking clear.  I have yet to try this but am excited to!

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle:  This is a leave-in conditioner spray that is amazing at detangling and leaving my hair bouncy and soft! What also impressed me was that it includes heat protectant properties, so I can spray this on and use my heating tools straight away. And the best part of this spray?  THE SMELL!!  It smells of vanilla, like, real vanilla. And it lingers in my hair for a good few hours. I don’t even bother spritzing on any perfume when I use this in my hair.  I am very tempted to order the full-size of this product off Birchbox.ca someday soon!!

BONUS: Hair clip!  Pretty basic hair clip. Does the job!
