September 2015 Birchbox (Canada)

It’s that time of month again!

Here’s a peek into the September Birchbox (Canada) I received (and mini-reviews on the products I’ve tried out!)

This box though!

September 2015 Birchbox (Canada).  This box though!

How cute is this box?  It made me smile when I saw the message!

And inside:

TOCCA Esfoliante da Corpo – Giulietta:  This is such a wonderful body scrub!  It’s a sugar-based formula that has just the right amount of grittiness to slough away dry skin without it being too harsh.  I’ve used this on my elbows and heels in the shower and it works awesome! The scent is slightly floral and fruity (pink tulips and green apple) and so fresh!  It’s rich in natural oils like olive, safflower and grapeseed oil that help to nourish the skin while getting rid of the dead dry stuff!

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Liquid Liner in Dark Gray:  I’m probably the worst person at applying liquid liner, but this pen makes things quite easy!  It’s got a long brush tip and the product comes out pigmented, smooth and doesn’t skip. It’s in dark gray – a good alternative however for something less intense than a really black liner. Staying power of this is, meh —  will come off with some face cleanser and warm water.

POP Beauty Portfolio Eyeshadow Trio in Sugar Plum:  These POP shadows are pretty amazing!  The shadows feel buttery and have minimal to zero fall-out!  The colours are perfect for brown eyes and a great colour palette for an easy, everyday eye look.  We’ve got a white, shimmery highlight shade; a medium-toned, satin-finish plum shade; and a satin-finish dark gray shade with purple undertone that pairs perfectly with the plum shadow.

100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream:  This caffeine rich eye cream claims to de-puff, brighten dark circles, lessen lines and wrinkles and nourish the eye area with anti-aging nutrients. I have not tried this, but I will be passing this one on to my sister as she’s been looking for an eye cream to try out. All I can tell you… is that this stuff smells amazing!!  Like a sweet, coffee, caramel latte!

BioRepublic Skincare Pomegranate Crush Illuminating Sheet Mask:  If you know me, you know I love face masks!  This mask claims to brighten skin and even tone. It’s a sheet mask and apparently it’s biodegradable.  Like other sheet masks, you leave this on for 15-20 minutes, remove, and massage/tap the excess product left into your skin.  I’ve yet to try this one, but I’m sure it’s a gooder!

There you have it!  Pretty happy with my September Birchbox 🙂

And to top it off, I also received at 20% off voucher to use on any full-size product from the Birchbox website – woohoo!

And if you’re interested, I recently did a post on my thoughts on Birchbox service and products so far since I started my subscription seven months ago — if you missed it, click here and read away!

July AND August Birchbox (2015) Canada

Seeing as I’ve been quite late on the blog posts for my monthly Birchboxes, today I come to you with a double post:  July and August Birchboxes! These are mostly to show you what goodies I received but where I’ve tried out a product I will tell give you a little review!

JULY BIRCHBOX

July Birchbox (2015) Canada

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara:  A cult favourite, this mascara is a good all-rounder. If length and lash separation are what you’re looking for this might be a good buy for you.

Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Lotion:  Loving the smell of this lotion. Light and fresh smelling, with marine extracts. This has made it’s way into my makeup bag for times where my hands or arms are feeling a bit parched.

RUSK Hair Styling Cream Heatshift:  A cream styler that claims to have medium hold that is supposed to work by keeping your coif in place without feeling overly sticky. I have yet to try this out.

theBalm cosmetics Balm Desert:  A blush and bronzer in one – light-medium warm brown. This itty-bitty sample is a soft powder meant to impart a subtle glow. Although a bit too light for my skin tone, I’ve discovered this to be a great transition shade to use in my eye crease as an eyeshadow!

Vasanti Cosmetics BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator:  Supposed to mimic the effects of microdermabrasion. This cleanser smells fresh and calming with the finest, tiniest granules to scrub away dead skin – those with very sensitive skin might like this. Creamy, light and easy to rinse away, I do indeed like this cleanser.

AUGUST BIRCHBOX:

August Birchbox (2015) Canada

amika Un.Done Texture Spray:  A styling spray that claims to give hair volume and a matte finish; meant to impart a sexy, undone, texturized look. I have yet to try this, but I imagine this would be a great finishing spray on wavy hair to give you that just-outta-bed look.

Crabtree & Evelyn Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy:  Hand lotion with macadamia oil and shea butter. Super hydrating and does not feel greasy after application – yes! Slightly nutty scent. I can see this being an awesome hand moisturizer come winter.

LAQA & Co. Cheeky Lip in Humble Drag:  A crayon meant to use for both your lips and cheeks. Super creamy formula. The shade is a true medium pink. On my lip tone, it pulls a bit Barbie-ish; but on my cheeks, a very nice bright flush of pink if blended well.

Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Retinol: Whoa, that was a mouthful!  I am SUPER excited to try this products out – I’ve been wanting to try something from Paula’s Choice for forever and this product is right up my alley. Retinol is a superstar ingredient for anti-aging and keeping the skin looking fresh and new. Can’t wait to try this out!

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel:  A peel that is supposed to leave you with exfoliated, softer, smoother and brighter skin. Interested in trying this one out.

There you have it, Pretties!  My July and August Birchboxes in one go!

Have you tried any of these products?  Likes or dislikes?  Do you get Birchbox? What did you get this month?

May Birchbox (Canada) 2015

It’s that time of month again!  No, not THAT time, ladies.  I mean, it’s Birchbox time!

In the past, I’ve tried to sample the products before doing a blog post, but I just get so overly excited about getting my Birchbox that I want to share my goodies with you as soon as they arrive at my doorstep!  So, if I do get a chance to sample the product(s) before my monthly Birchbox posts, I will definitely share my thoughts.  Just like I did with the Beauty Blender and Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. And if there’s anything I recieve that I think deserves a post all on its own, I will do a separate post on those!

But for now, my goal is to share with you as quickly as possible, each month, the contents of my Birchbox!

No. 4 Non-Aerosol Hairspray:  Nothing to special to say about this — pretty much your typical, non-aerosol hairspray. Holds well. Doesn’t have much of a scent so this is something I’ll probably keep in my desk drawer at work (the company enforces a ‘no-scent-policy’ for those that might be allergic to scents). Great small travel size for the purse too!

BeeKind Body Lotion:  This is a very lightweight body lotion infused with honey and organic chamomile extracts. It has a really refreshing, zesty scent and I’ll definitely be using this in this warmer weather. Absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling soft.

LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil:  This is a high-gloss semi-sheer lip colour in the shade Menatour (a purpley-pink with blue undertone). The formula of this is really nice — glides on smooth and quite pigmented for a lip gloss crayon. However, this shade does not suit me at all! I’ll be giving this away to a friend.

Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Wash:  If you noticed in the photo, this body wash tube is completely empty! That’s because I used it all up already! This was a really nice body wash — lathered up nice and rinsed off clean. It’s infused with marine extracts and smells so ocean-y and refreshing. Definitely a product I would consider purchasing the full-size of!

Raw Spirit Fragrances Desert Blush Eau de Parfum:  This scent is described to have notes of Austrailian boronia, ylang ylang, jasmine and sandalwood. Slightly floral and musky at the same time, this scent is ok, but not really my cup of tea. When I smell this, I imagine this would be nice worn on a summer evening out; not really a day scent if you ask me.

There you have it – my May Birchbox!
