Vichy Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil

If you’ve been following my blog reviews for a while now, you’ll know that I’m a BIG fan of cleansing oils. My all-time favourite, The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil, is still on the top of my list, but I’ve ventured out and tried some others – like Clinique’s Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil, Lancome’s Energie de Vie The Cleansing Oil – which are a bit expensive in my opinion for cleansing oils, I wanted to find something around the price point of TBS one (around $16 Cdn) that might give it a run for my money.

I’ve been using the Vichy Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil recently as my make-up remover and so far, so good!

First off, if you haven’t tried a cleansing oil, you really have to!  Don’t be afraid if you have oily skin, it won’t add to the oiliness (I have combination skin).  Cleansing oils are meant to be the first step in your cleansing routine – the makeup remover. And most cleansing oils are formulated so that you use them on your dry face, massage it on and then rinse with warm water or remove with a cleansing cloth. Then you continue onto your regular facial cleanser.

The Vichy cleansing oil is great in that it’s really light and it does not leave any greasy residue after rinsing. It has a subtle spa-like scent that I don’t find irritating or overwhelming – it actually makes me look forward to using it at the end of each day to remove my make up!

Another great thing about the Vichy is the packaging – this comes in a plastic container with an aerosol-type pump, which makes it super easy to dispense – a couple spritzes into the palm of my hand with no mess and no excess spillage  – and cleanse away!

I would definitely repurchase this cleansing oil. At $19 Cdn, a very decent price for a great product. And I might be more inclined to repurchase this when I run out of it just because I can find it at my local drugstore; whereas if I want my TBS cleansing oil, I have to take a drive to the mall to get it.

I give the Vichy Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil: a STANDING OVATION

Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster for Face

A couple months ago, I had the best time in Mexico for my sister’s wedding.  Having a weeks worth of amazing sunshine on my body all day, everyday was exactly what I needed to uplift me from the Canadian winter blues. Being back home now for about 2 months, my tan has faded – sad!  I know that summer is right around the corner, but I miss that glow.  So I did some research and stumbled upon the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster for face:

As per the Sephora website:

What it is:
A skin booster to be mixed with your day and night cream for a radiant, sunkissed glow.

What it is formulated to do:
Three drops to sunkissed skin. This is the first ever self-tanning innovation from the Clarins laboratories. From sunkissed to sun-drenched, simply mix with your regular day or night cream to gradually develop natural-looking, beautifully bronzed skin. Golden Glow Booster’s 99.8 percent natural formula combines natural DHA and erythrulose with aloe vera extract to help preserve skin’s softness while giving your complexion a healthy-looking glow.

What else you need to know:
Golden Glow Booster must be mixed with moisturizer—never use straight from the bottle. Do not add formula to moisturizer container.

Research results:
In a satisfaction test on 61 women after 10 days of use:
– 83% reported a natural-looking glow
– 90% reported an even glow
– 86% reported a streak-free glow

I’ve been using this, on and off over the last month or so, mixed with my nighttime moisturizer.  I apply 3 drops of this scent-less tint to my moisturizer, blend well on the back of my hand and apply evenly all over my face and neck.  This is a liquid formula and only slightly thins out my moisturizer.

I can’t say for sure that this is giving me any extra colour over the time I’ve been using it, however, it definitely has imparted some radiance on my face. I usually exfoliate on a daily basis so that might be one of the reasons as to why I’m not necessarily seeing that ‘self-tanning’ property that this product claims to have. I may have to start mixing this in with my daytime moisturizer to reap the benefits of the gradual tanning claim.

In any case, I actually do like this product and will continue to use it.  I think now that I am more my normal skintone now and use this in the a.m. AND p.m. I may get more obvious results. In that case, I’ll probably re-purchase this product once I run out of this supply so I have one on hand come fall/winter season to maintain a healthy glow.

I purchased this at Shoppers Drug Mart for $31 Cdn.

I give the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster for face: a HIGH FIVE.

Sephora Spring 2016 Sale – What I got (and mini-reviews)!

So, when I received my 15% off discount card in the mail and an email from Sephora reminding me of this spring special, I hopped onto the website immediately to start filling my basket and ticking off more “Loves”, in preparation for purchase!  I was very very tempted to spend an embarrassing amount of money on things that I’ve lusted after for a long time, but I tried my best to pick things that I only really really wanted/needed.  So here’s what I got!

(And if I’ve done a full review on a product, I’ll link the name and you can read more about it!)

bareMinerals bareSkin Perfecting Veil in Tan/Dark:  This is a replacement of the same compact I completely hit pan on!  I love this setting powder – perfect colour, doesn’t look cakey and leaves such a natural finish on my skin. Love!

Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion:  This is also a replacement – I think this might be my third or fourth bottle of this toner.  This is a great, alcohol-free lotion that makes my skin feeling refreshed and clean. Love!

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in Number 4:  This is a re-purchase – for my sister!  I’m still working on my little pot but she needed another one.  This is an awesome peach-toned corrector for dark undereye circles. The LM line of concealer/correctors have an amazing shade selection and the formula of this is creamy and perfect.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Rollerball:  This is a personal love of mine, but this purchase is actually for my Ma for upcoming Mother’s Day – SHHH!  Since the E&J Nirvana scents have come out, I’ve been completely in love with the both of them – Nirvana Black is my personal fave but White is something I wear quite often as well, especially during the warmer months.  Anyway, me and my Ma were in Sephora one day and she sampled this on her wrist and said that she really liked it. So, naturally, I bought it for her 🙂

Clinique Take the Day Off Micellar Cleansing Towelettes:  I noticed these new wipes by Clinique and I decided to try ’em out because 1.) I love Clinique products; and 2.) I love wipes!  I’ve used these a couple times and I have to say – they’re just OK.  They definitely don’t remove waterproof mascara – a bit of rough rubbing will do it but I don’t recommend it. It’s great for pre-removing makeup before actually cleansing the face. And I always feel I have to rinse/cleanse after using this because it leaves a bit of an oily film behind. Not the greatest wipes I’ve tried, but does a basic job nonetheless. And for 50 towelettes in a really great re-sealable package for $17, not a bad price.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Stromboli:  This is a new purchase. I hesitated for sooooo long on this because of the price – $58 Cdn for a foundation???  I’ve never spent that much on a foundation. BUT, with the discount and all the great reviews I’ve read/heard/watched about this foundation, I thought now’s the best time to try it out!  I will definitely join the ranks of my fellow beauty junkies and will do a full review on this as soon as I give it a go! Stay tuned 🙂

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Pepper:  This is a new purchase and one I’ve been wanting to make for a loooong time!  My first Bite Beauty lipstick purchase and in the shade Pepper – a mauve colour. And I finally have my grubby little hands on it, yahoo!

And as an added bonus buying online, I was able to snag a few samples and one point perk (by the time I made my purchases online, they had a very limited selection of 100-point perks and no more 250 or 500 perks! Gah!)
