For all my fellow beauty addicts THIS new drugstore foundation has been the talk of the town in the last little while: the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation. I can’t even count on my fingers anymore how many blog/vlog reviews I’ve read/watched in the last couple months! I’d say 95% of the time, I’ve come across only very good reviews on this foundation so of course, I had to check it out!
On the L’oreal website it says:
Longwear without the compromise. Never masky, never cakey, never dull – Infallible Pro-Matte™ is L’Oréal’s new generation of longwearing makeup. The micro-sponge technology absorbs excess oil and shine to create a dimensional matte finish without the need for a heavy or caked-on look. Use a sponge to buff it out for a sheer and natural look or apply in layers for more complete coverage.
This foundation comes in 9 shades — which is not bad, but not great either. I managed to find a pretty good match to my skintone which is in 107 Fresh Beige. Of the testers that were available, I swatched them and noticed that the medium shades had more yellow undertones — which is great for us Asian or olive-toned gals. I didn’t really check out the lighter shades.
Let’s start with the packaging. It’s a compact, convenient, plastic squeeze tube which is great! Love that I have complete control over how much foundation I want to use. The only drawback I found with the packaging is the front panel where the shade (supposedly) shows — as I looked at all the shades on the L’oreal display, I couldn’t really tell a difference between the different shades just by looking at the front panel — they all looked very similar. So if you’re lucky enough to get some testers, use them to get a sense of colour because just by looking at the front panel, you won’t get an accurate indication of what you might go home with!
The texture is not too liquid, not to thick — very easy to blend. BUT I found that I have to work quite quickly to buff this into my skin because it sets super fast! Also, I found that I have to shake the tube before each use (which I typically do with all my foundations anyway) because this one has a tendency to separate — oil and formula.
I find that about a pea-size amount gives me the right amount of medium coverage for my liking. A little goes a long way with this product! I blend it in quickly with my buffing brush and I’m left with a demi-matte finish that evens out my skintone, covers redness yet still allows my real skin to shine through. Does not feel heavy whatsoever which is amazing for a foundation that actually gives a good amount of coverage without too much product. I’ve tried using more to build up the coverage and yes, you can get fuller coverage, but you might risk the start of looking a bit cakey.
I’ve tried this with my Maybelline Master Prime Face Primer in Blur + Illuminate and I find they work wonderfully together to give me a bit of a more luminous finish.
As far as wear-time, this definitely keeps my face oil-free about 5-6 hours. Keep in mind it’s the middle of winter and I’m indoors most days, so this foundation has yet to see the hot summer sun.
Also, this foundation is AMAZING for keeping my blush in place. Literally, my blush stays on ALL DAY LONG when I wear it with this foundation (no need for setting spray!).
This is definitely one of my fuller coverage foundation options on my dressing table at the moment — a super quality foundation for drugstore! On days that I feel like amping up my foundation game, this is the first one I would probably reach for.
This new range by L’oreal also includes a setting powder and a setting spray — I’m excited to try the setting spray out when I can find it at a good price; as for the powder, I have enough in my collection right now that I may not try this out, unless I find it at a very good price!
I purchased this on sale at Target for $13.99 Cdn. (and most likely I will repurchase!)
I give the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation: a HIGH FIVE
Have you tried this foundation? Like or dislike? Have you tried any of the other Infallible products in the range? I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments!!!
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps!
