Super Facialist by Una Brennan: Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil

Hello Pretties!

I decided to FINALLY stray away from probably my most favourite makeup cleanser of all time — The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil — and picked up the Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil by Una Brennan. As far as I know, Una Brennan products can’t readily be found in Canada, however I happened to spot this product at Winners (TJ Maxx, Ross, would be a U.S. equivalent) where sometimes makeup and skincare products that otherwise can’t be found anywhere else, pop up here!

I really like the packaging of this product. The squeeze bottle is small enoughΒ that it’s easy to handle and the design of the “squeeze hole” (wha?) doesn’t squirt out liquid all over the place when you turn it upside down.

As with any facial cleanser oil, I put about a quarter-sized amount into my palm and rub my hands together. Sometimes I’ll use a bit more depending on how much makeup I’m wearing that day. Once rubbed into my palms, I apply in circular motions on my dry face, working the oil all over to gently loosen my eye make up and melt away everything else. I do this for about 1 minute and rinse away with warm water.

This facial oil works well to remove all traces of my makeup. It rinses away well, without leaving any residue on my face or leaving it feeling stripped of moisture. Sometimes I will follow up with my regular facial cleanser, but typically this is enough to give my face a good wash.

The only drawback in my opinion is the fragrance. It smells of citrus — which I love — but it’s a little TOO much for me. It’s not so bothersome that I will stop using this product, but if I were to choose between this and my Camomile Cleansing Oil based on fragrance, Camomile hands down would win (very soft, subtle scent).

It’s a great cleansing oil, however, the too-strong fragrance doesn’t really appeal to me.

I’m a HUGE fan of cleansing oils and probably won’t stray too far from TBS Camomile Cleansing Oil, but I’m open to trying out different brands. They’re great for removing makeup and with the right formula, I think they can serve as a great cleanser as well.

I bought this at Winners for $12.99 Cdn. I don’t think I’d re-purchase this cleanser if I ever came across it again.

I give the Super Facialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil: a SHOULDER SHRUG

Have you tried this cleansing oil?Β  Like or dislike?Β  Do you have a favourite cleansing oil that you think I should try?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I haven’t tried it, but just read and seen some positive reviews over the web. Sincerly I gave up cleansing oils, apart from those which once emulsified become oils, such as the Alpha-H or the Body Shop balm I’ve recently reviewed on the blog. And they’re both really nice. I’m sorry for the heavy smell, but it seems to be the trend in drugstore skincare…

    • I don’t mind fragrances in skincare products, although I do try to steer away from them or opt for skincare products with minimal fragrance. I love citrusy scents, but this facial oil was a very ‘in-your-face’ citrus scent, not as subtle or pleasant in other products I’ve used in the past. I agree, some drugstore skincare can be quite fragrance-heavy, but I’ve also tried some higher end brands that are the same (and even worse sometimes!). Thanks for reading πŸ™‚
