So, a while back I did a review on the Maybelline FitMe Liquid Foundation and Powder. They’ve since come out with a new formulation of the same products, but geared to normal and oily skin (the orginal formulation is apparently geared to normal to dry skin). I really like the original formula — I have combination skin but not super oily or super dry — the original FitMe left me with good coverage and a natural, dewy finish. But because my skin tends to lean more oily than dry most of the time, I thought I’d give this new formulation a go.
I bought the same colour as the orginal formula I have — 310 Sun Beige and it’s a perfect match to my skin. I couldn’t find the matching pressed powder in this new formula at the time.
This new formulation is geared towards normal to oily skintypes, hence the “matte + poreless” addition to the product name.
When I compare this to the original formula (which I think now is marketed/re-branded as “dewy + smooth” since this new formulation came out), I can definitely see a difference in finish on my skin. The original formula definitely leaves more of a natural, dewy finish, without making my face look too oily; and the new formula leaves a more mattified finish, without making my face look too dry. I think for my skintype, I can actually get away with either formulation. I think that in the summertime, I can see myself reaching for the matte formula over the original to keep the extra oil away.
Like the original formula, this new matte one is easy to blend and it does not feel heavy on my skin at all. Definitely buildable coverage if I want it. As far as the actual texture and consistency of the formulation — it’s still quite liquidy, be careful pouring out of the glass container! This matte one might be a TAD thicker than the original formula, but very minimal difference as far as I can tell.
As far as wear throughout the day, I find that I still have to touch up with some pressed powder after about 5-6 hours of wear — primarily on my T-zone (typical). Maybe if I wore this with fuller coverage, I would have a longer time span before having to touch up.
I like this foundation and will probably repurchase — very good option in my opinion for normal to oily skin types, looking for a lightweight foundation that can be worn lightly for a natural finish, or built up for a more full coverage without it looking too cakey. I’m curious to try out the matching pressed powder… wonder if there’s any significant difference between that and the original formula pressed powder?
I purchased this at Shoppers Drug Mart for $9.99 Cdn.
I give the Maybelline FitMe Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation: a STANDING OVATION
Have you tried this foundation or the original formula? What are your thoughts?
Thanks for stopping by!
