I stumbled across this Revlon Age-Defying foundation set at Shoppers Drug Mart for only $21.99 Cdn. When I looked at the individual pricetags on these items on the same shelf, I could not pass up this deal — I was basically getting two items practically for free! And since I’m always looking to try new things for a steal of a deal, I couldn’t pass this up.
It took some time to find the right colour just through eyeballing (unfortunately no testers were out), but I’ve become pretty good at finding the right (or close to the right) shade nowadays at the drugstore because I’m just out there looking so much! I ended up choosing the kit with the foundation shade 40 Medium Beige and it’s turned out to be a pretty good match.
On the Revlon website, it describes the Age Defying Firming and Lifting Foundation as follows:
Age Defying Firming and Lifting Foundation
Inspired by the latest advances in anti-aging, this all-in-one formula combines Hyaluronic acid, our Exclusive Triple Lift Complex™, and moisturizing ingredients. Relax the look of expression lines, smooth skin, and boost hydration 3X for a rejuvenated look. (Available in 12 shades).
I can’t say much for the “age-defying” properties this claims to have, but I trust that the ingredients in the foundation do as they say. I use this foundation in rotation with other foundations — maybe if I were to use it everyday for a few weeks/months, I might reap the age-defying benefits it claims.
As far as performance, the coverage on this is medium to full, but still maintains a natural looking finish. On my skin, it’s in between a matte and dewy finish. Very easy to blend with fingers, brush or sponge. Honestly, I have nothing bad OR exceptional to say about this foundation — it hasn’t disappointed me, but hasn’t wow’d me either. A good, basic foundation for everyday.
I give the Revlon Age Defying Firming and Lifting Foundation: a SHOULDER SHRUG
On the Revlon website, it describes the Age Defying Targeting Dark Spot Concealer Treatment as follows:
Age Defying Targeted Dark Spot Concealer Treatment:
Our innovative concealer with a Vitamin C and licorice enriched formula that instantly reduces the appearance of age spots and discolorations for more even looking skin. 82% of women said the appearance of age spots and discolorations were instantly improved. (Available in 4 shades).
Unfortunately, the concealer that came in my kit was too light for me — I tried it for spot concealing and under the eyes, but the colour match was off. That’s too bad, because according to its description above, this is something I would’ve loved to continue on with over time to see if it actually makes a difference on some of the discolourations on my face.
In any case, I can still report on a few features of this concealer: this is quite a thick concealer; if this were the right colour for me, I think this would actually be very effective in doing spot concealing. I did try blending this under my eyes and found it to be too thick for that area — it dries quickly and is difficult to blend for that purpose.
Personally, I don’t wear concealer all that much, but if I were to choose one for spot treating, I would consider this one for sure — in the right colour of course!
I give the Revlon Age Defying Targeted Dark Spot Concealer Treatment: a HIGH FIVE
And finally, on the Revlon website, it describes the Age Defying Wrinkle Remedy Line Filler as follows:
Age Defying Wrinkle Remedy Line Filler:
No need for an appointment. This lightweight, colorless formula with hyaluronic acid instantly fills deep lines and wrinkles, visibly smoothing skin for flawless makeup application. 90% of women said skin looked fuller and more plumped when used under makeup.
Now, I have to say that I haven’t used this product all that much to do it adequate justice. However, I do have some intial thoughts about it. I don’t have wrinkles yet, however those pesky fine lines around my eye area is something I’ve been noticing more.
This product comes in a compact tube that easily squeezes out small amounts of the cream. It’s a white cream that when spread turns colourless. The texture is quite light and blends smoothly and absorbs straight in to the skin. I tried “filling” in a few fine lines under my eyes with this — one thin layer, I didn’t see much of a difference. Another thin layer, not much difference again. A third layer — no difference as far as I could tell. And I found that when I added more and more, I got sort of a white/grey cast appearing and the cream ended up feeling heavy and thick under my eye, despite the light texture.
I tried this under my makeup and it settled fine (but again, with no real results for me personally as far as filling any lines in). I tried this over makeup and found that it “pilled” a little bit as I blended it in (and again, with no real results for me personally as far as filling any lines in).
Not sure if I would give this another chance, but for now, it’s not something I would use in the near future.
I give the Revlon Age Defying Wrinkle Remedy Line Filler: a THUMBS DOWN
Kind of a mixed bag with these three products in one kit! Overall, I’d say the Revlon Age Defying Line is something worth looking into. There’s a few more products in the range, like a CC Cream, etc. that I wouldn’t mind trying out. The quality of Revlon products are never disappointing (probably one of the best drugstore brands for quality), so I’d definitely recommend this kit for the amount of products you get, for the price — great deal. What doesn’t work for me, might work great for you!
Have you tried this kit? Or any of the products in it? What are your thoughts?
Thanks for reading!!
