Spring Face Makeup

Hello Pretties!

I was looking through my current makeup stash to see what products I currently own that would fit nicely into the fresh, spring time category. Even with a minimal, but decent selection of spring-y colours in my collection, don’t be surprised if you find me wandering wide-eyed at the makeup counters admiring all the new spring lines. But I think I’ve got a few goodies here that are definitely making me feel like my face is matching the weather!

My spring time makeup!

  • Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara
  • Maybelline FitMe Foundation and Powder in 310 Sun Beige
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Medium

Maybelline FitMe Foundation and Powder

I recently did a review on these products here, if you want to know some detailed thoughts on these two. I really like these products so far – the texture and finish of the foundation is perfect for warmer weather — a light to medium coverage that still lets your skin show through with a dewy-ish finish. And the matching powder is nice and light to set the foundation and use for any touch ups throughout the day.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Medium

This is a good basic concealer. I bought this one in shade Medium and it matches my skintone pretty much spot on. I use this primarily to cover the redness around my nose and sometimes underneath my eyes to make me look “awake” (as per it’s “anti-fatigue effect and radiant glow” effect). It provides a nice, natural, light finish, but I wouldn’t consider it full coverage. A good, simple, easy-to-blend spot finisher.

The Body Shop Blushes

These blushes are amazing! I’ve been using these on and off since around Christmas time last year and the colours, I’m now realizing are PERFECT for spring!

Flushed, which is the pink shade is a medium-deep bright pink. It’s got tiny gold flecks in it, but once applied to the face they don’t really show up. It gives me a nice, natural wash of pink on my skintone.

Macaroon, which is the coral shade is a soft, pretty light peach colour. This totally brings such a fresh and cool wash of colour on my skintone.

These blushes are very pigmented — I find that only a couple swirls of my brush in the pan is enough. The finish is very soft and natural and blends nicely into the cheeks. And the staying power of these blushes are probably the best that I’ve tried (at least compared to the ones in my own collection at the moment) — when I come home from work after having this on for 8-hours, it’s still looking pretty on my cheeks!

Revlon Satin Finish Eyeshadow and Maybelline Color Tattoo

The Revlon Eyeshadow is in the colour Melon — in the photo it comes out a bit darker than in person. I would say it’s a soft, shimmery orange with a hint of gold. I really like the shade — it adds just enough brightness to my lids without it being too over the top (as I’m not that bold when it comes to eyeshadows for everyday wear). The pigmentation is so-so and the staying power is so-so, even with an eyeshadow primer underneath. Good colour, so-so performance.

I’ve done a review on the Maybelline Color Tatoo in the colour Bad to the Bronze — you can read my thoughts about it here!  In short, for the spring time (or all season round really) you can’t go wrong with a neutral, semi-shimmery/satin-finish bronze colour! It goes with no matter what you wear on your face!

MAC Lipstick in Plumful and Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in Apricot Pucker

MAC lipstick in Plumful and Almay Liquid lip balm in Apricot Pucker

MAC Plumful is a pinky-plum shade that is actually quite nice. Dan (my boyfriend) actually chose this one for me — which was surprising as he prefers a more natural lip (or no lipstick rather). But I was overwhelmed by the selection at MAC and as soon as I tried this one on we both liked it! I don’t usually wear bold lip colours, but this one is a colour that sort of helps me get over my shyness of brighter lips. This can be an every day colour if I wanted to, but I tend to wear this when I’m feeling extra happy and confident. And it’s even prettier when I’m wearing all black — really shows off the plum!

The Almay lip balm in Apricot Pucker is a perfect shade of coral for spring time. It’s got a sheer finish (but buildable) and so hydrating on the lips. Whenever I wear this I feel like my face just instantly feels brighter! I can’t argue with that!  Click here if you want to know more detailed thoughts on this product!

Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara

Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara

This is a great, light basic mascara that gives my lashes a nice lift, especially on the outer lashes. This has become one of my favorites and I’m pretty sure I’ve been reaching for this one the most often in my bucket of mascaras! For a more detailed review on this (and other mascaras I’m loving) click here!

And that’s it! I didn’t think I’d have that much in my current make up collection to fit the spring face category, but turns out I did!

Have you tried any of these products?  What do you think of them?  What kind of spring makeup essentials do you have in your collection right now?

Thanks for tuning in again Pretties!!

🙂
