I don’t know about you but I’ve come to “that age” where I am constantly searching for the most effective, anti-aging skincare products.
Let’s face it (pun intended). We are getting older by the minute and one of the first signs of aging is our skin. When I reached the big 3-0, I started to gain interest in preventive skin care. Now, at 37, I am still on the hunt for those products that I can call my “Holy Grail” of anti-aging skin care.
For now, I think I may have found a couple pretty decent products that fit the bill: the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and the Aveeno Postively Radiant Intensive Night Cream.
Both products include the same active ingredient — soy. Aveeno describes its’ benefits on their website as follows:
ACTIVE NATURALS® TOTAL SOY COMPLEX
Evens skin tone and texture
for radiant-looking skin.
Traditional Chinese medicine has used soy for thousands of years to reduce the appearance of blotchiness and discoloration. AVEENO® scientists devised a way to process soybeans that retains the integrity of the proteins to provide immediate and long-term skin benefits. Products with our ACTIVE NATURALS® Total Soy Complex visibly transform dull, uneven skin into brighter, more radiant skin.
I have been using both products in conjunction with each other for the past 5 months. Let’s start with the Daily Moisturizer:
The product description on the Aveeno website is as follows:
This daily moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 15 and exclusive ACTIVE NATURALS® Total Soy Complex and natural light diffusers works to naturally even skin tone and texture and help improve the look of brown spots, while immediately brightening to bring out your skin’s natural radiance. POSITIVELY RADIANT® is a collection of facial care products uniquely formulated to target all 5 FACTORS OF RADIANCE® .
Clinically shown to improve:
– Brown Spots
It’s oil free, hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic
After using this moisturizer every single day for the past 5 months, I would have to say that I love that it is oil-free (great for my combination skin); it’s easily absorbed into the skin; there is no offensive smell (not even a smell to it really); and it is light on the skin, but definitely provides GREAT hydration. I have not experienced any adverse skin reactions to using this lotion. I’ve had issues in the past with day lotions containing sunscreen — even as low of an SPF as 15 — some tend to produce a weird, white peeling residue that rolls off my skin as I massage it in. Not sure if it was the SPF, but it was weird. This moisturizer does not do that. And products with an SPF is probably the top thing on my checklist when I look for a a daily facial moisturizer.
As far as its’ claims of improving tone, texture, brown spots, dullness and blotchiness, I think the tone and texture of my skin has improved — less roughness, especially in my cheeks and I seem to have more of an even skin tone. I’d say my skin is also less dull-looking — I think part of it has to do with how well this hydrates the skin — plump skin is skin that looks alive! Blotchiness has improved — I tend to have a few redder parts on my face, such as on my cheeks and on my forehead, and I do think that redness has reduced a little bit. As for the reduction of brown spots (although I don’t have that many) I’m not confident I’ve seen any significant change in my skin with this product.
This is a decent, all-around good daily moisturizer that I would probably re-purchase while still on the hunt for HG of anti-aging day lotion.
I give the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 15: a SHOULDER SHRUG
Next up… the Aveeno Postively Radiant Intensive Night Cream:
On the Aveeno website it states of this night cream:
Brighten and even skin tone with AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® Intensive Night Cream. Formulated with ACTIVE NATURALS® Total Soy Complex and vitamin B3, this advanced night cream leaves skin smooth and healthy looking. This oil-free night cream will help keep you looking fresh and luminous.
For me personally, I’m more interested in using a really effective night cream than a day cream for anti-aging. As you know, it is during sleep when our skin cells renew and rejuvenate. And what better way to help our skin cells out by using products that aid in that renewal?
I’d have to say that this is a good, basic night cream. I appreciate that it is oil free, but at the same time it does give a much better dose of moisture than the day cream. It is very light and has a watery-gel-like consistency. It applies smoothly and evenly and little bit goes a long way. It absorbs into my skin almost instantly and feels great. As for it’s claims to “brighten and even skin tone” and “leaves skin smooth and healthy looking”, I would have to say yes, this has done it’s work but I wouldn’t say it’s done miracles for my skin. I think that using this in combination with the day lotion, the benefits (as little as I have noticed) have worked in my favour. Each product on its own however, I’m not sure if there would be any benefit.
I give the Aveeno Postively Radiant Intensive Night Cream: a SHOULDER SHRUG
I know sometimes good skincare comes with a price tag and I am willing to dish out a few extra bucks to ensure I get the most effective products possible! I can’t honestly say that my skin has transformed in the last 5 months so dramatically because of these two products. But, I can say that they are both definitely very good basic moisturizers with some skin benefits. After 5 months of use, I’d say I have about 2 months more worth of product in there, so for the price point of about $10 for the day lotion and $15 for the night cream (on sale), definitely worth the money.
Have you tried these products? Did they do anything for your skin? What anti-aging day and night time products would you recommend?
Thanks for tuning in Pretties!
